Budget Billing

The budget billing program is a free service offered to all residential customers. The program is designed to help you avoid unpredictable utility bills and make balancing your budget a little easier.

Your monthly budget amount is based on the average of your actual bill charges during the previous 12 months. The budget cycle runs from September to August of the next year. Budget accounts are reconciled in August, any remaining balance should be paid before the due date in August. Any expected increase in the cost of electric and/or natural gas are also calculated into the monthly payment when you enroll in the program. Periodically throughout the year, your account is reviewd to determine if any adjustments need to be made to your budget payment amount. You will receive notification if your budget amount increases or decreases. The objective is to keep the August's amount due (end of the cycle) less than or equal to one budget payment.

We continue to read your meter every month and your utility bill will show how much energy you used, the actual bill amount and the balance on your account. Some months you will pay less for what you actually used and some months you will pay more. All payments must be received by the due date each month. If received after the due date, account will be subject to late payment penalties. Keep in mind that if 2 budget payments are missed the account is no longer eligible to be on the budget plan and will be removed immediately. The total balance of the account becomes due at that time.
